How downloads are checked
I check each zip before posting it. Look under the Download button for the results.
- What’s inside
- Skin and sound downloads contain only .vpk game files. I check each file’s VPK header and reject nested archives, encrypted files and programs. SwapLock is the only program here.
- Malware scan
- Microsoft Defender scans the zip and its contents with that day’s signatures. The results list the engine and signature versions used.
- VirusTotal
- I also check each zip on VirusTotal, which uses about 60 antivirus engines. The results show how many flagged the file and link to the full report.
- Fingerprint
- The SHA-256 identifies the exact file scanned. If the zip changes, I remove the result until it’s scanned again.
- Check it yourself
- In PowerShell, run
Get-FileHash .\Bowser_over_Rat_King.zipand compare the hash with the one on the mod page.
